Our Story...
We have loved every minute of our journey... and will continue to do so.
Where it all began...
Yvonne and Jo started the original piloted hoarding service with a local social housing landlord based in Coventry City 2015.
Yvonne and Jo developed a completely new approach to address clients' with hoarding issues. They were able to implement a client centred approach, as well as promoting the individuals' health and well being.
They were able to use their core Occupational Therapy (OT) skills, theory, and the OT process to guide their work. This enabled them to work therapeutically with the individuals and at best, understand the underlying causes of their hoarding behaviour.
Jo's and Yvonne's interventions and goal planning are based on the clients’ strengths and areas of occupational dysfunction, therefore giving the individual control of their treatment plan.
This pilot service closed due to funding issues.
Enabling Spaces CIC idea is born...
Yvonne and Jo wanted to continue the hoarding service, hence with their entrepreneur minds, they took the bold step to set up their own occupational therapy service.
Enabling Spaces CIC specialising in Compulsive Hoarding Therapy was born in 2017.
Yvonne and Jo continue to take a client centred and holistic approach to compulsive hoarding disorder and having first-hand experience of working in this specialist area, they aim to transform people’s lives by providing flexible and responsive support for people with hoarding behaviours.
Their approach helps the individual to self-manage their condition, remain independent and live well.
It delivers sustainable solutions that:
• Improve mental and physical health
• Reduce social isolation
• Reduce risks to the individual and their community
• Reduce the cost of dealing with hoarding behaviour and its consequences.
Enabling Spaces CIC work within Coventry City, the West Midlands area, Warwickshire and beyond..... they go where they are needed.
